Georg Riedesel Freiherr zu Eisenbach (born June 10, 1845 in Altenburg Castle (Alsfeld) ; † July 2, 1897 ibid) from the house of the Barons Riedesel was a registrar and hereditary marshal of the Hessian landgraves .

Life

Riedesel was the son of the 31st Hereditary Marshal Georg Riedesel zu Eisenbach (1812–1881) and his wife Therese von Herda zu Brandenburg (1819–1880).

On November 4, 1863 , Riedesel enrolled at the Hessian Ludwig University of Forestry . From July 30, 1864 to Easter 1870, he was active in the Corps Starkenburgia . He was honored as a fox major , consenior and three times as a senior . He passed the state examination in the winter semester of 1869/70. As a second lieutenant , he was seriously wounded in the Franco-Prussian War on February 24, 1870. He was a French prisoner of war until February 28, 1871 . He retired from military service as Rittmeister. His younger brother Ludwig (born April 2, 1847) was a court trainee in Wiesbaden.

Georg Riedesel became majorate lord and, as a senior member of the family, after the death of Giesebert Riedesel zu Eisenbach in 1885 , he inherited the office and title of the Hessian hereditary marshal and the rank of lord of rank for the Riedesel rule . As a registrar he was automatically a member of the First Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . He was a member of it from 1883 until his death in 1897. In 1885 he was a member of the municipal council of Kassel as a registrar . From 1886 to 1897 he sat in the Prussian mansion . He was an honorary knight of the Order of St. John and lived in Darmstadt.

Georg Riedesel was married to Anna von Stülpnagel. Their son Georg became district administrator in Hofgeismar.
