Georg Wichmann (* 1876 in Löwenberg ; † 1944 in Schreiberhau ) was a German landscape painter and co-founder of the "Association of Visual Artists St. Lukas" in Schreiberhau in Lower Silesia.
Life
Georg Wichmann spent his childhood in Pomerania . He began studying painting at the Berlin Academy of Arts with Anton von Werner . From 1897 he continued his studies in Breslau with Eduard Kaempffer and Carl Ernst Morgenstern , then from 1898 with Leopold von Kalckreuth in Karlsruhe . From 1901 to 1903 he was involved in the maintenance of the pictures in the galleries of Count Eduard von Pückler in Schedlau and of Count Friedrich von Praschma in Falkenberg .
In 1903 he settled in the Giant Mountains and stayed there with the exception of his service in the First World War .
In 1922 he co-founded the “Association of Visual Artists St. Lukas” in the Lower Silesian Schreiberhau in the Giant Mountains with Paul Aust , an association of artists who offered their work in the Lukasmühle in Schreiberhau as well as in Hirschberg and Bad Warmbrunn .
In 1924 he moved into a newly built apartment in Schreiberhau near the Lukasmühle.
Georg Wichmann mainly dealt with landscape painting. His works show influences of impressionism . They can be found in the collections of the Wroclaw National Museum , the Giant Mountains Museum in Hirschberg (Muzeum Karkonoskie w Jeleniej Górze), the Silesian House in Königswinter , the Silesian Cultural Foundation in Würzburg and the Bad Harzburg home parlor.
His son was the Munich art historian Siegfried Wichmann .
