Georg Wilhelm Sigismund Beigel
Georg Wilhelm Sigismund Beigel (also Georg Wilhelm Siegmund Beigel ) (born September 25, 1753 in Ippesheim , † January 25, 1837 in Dresden ) was a German diplomat, librarian, natural scientist and mathematician.
Life
Georg Wilhelm Sigismund Beigel attended high school in Windsheim with the rector Georg Wilhelm Dietz (1710–1786) and then studied at the University of Altdorf and the University of Leipzig ; there he also received his doctorate.
In 1786 he entered the Saxon service as legation secretary and was assigned to the royal Saxon ambassador in Munich , whom he represented as chargé d'affaires in his absence. In 1802 he returned to Dresden as a legation counselor and in 1804 was appointed secret cabinet secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and accompanied Elector Friedrich August III. (from 1806 King Friedrich August I ) on his travels. In 1810 he was appointed Privy Legation Councilor, and when he was transferred to a new position in 1813, Friedrich Ludwig Breuer followed him .
On January 13, 1813, Georg Wilhelm Sigismund Beigel succeeded the late senior librarian Karl Wilhelm Daßdorf . Due to illness, he was retired on November 11, 1826.
Act
Georg Wilhelm Sigismund Beigel had already carried out mathematical studies during his time in Munich; In Dresden he was appointed to the Weights and Measures Commission due to his success in this field. In several magazines he wrote not only treatises on scientific questions, but also on oriental languages.

Memberships
During his stay in Bavaria, Georg Wilhelm Sigismund Beigel pursued scientific studies and was accepted into the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences .
In March 1782 he became a member of the Freemasons and joined the Dresden lodge to the three swords .
In 1817 he joined the Society for Mineralogy in Dresden.
