Friedrich Gottlieb von Busse

Friedrich Gottlieb Busse , from 1811 by Busse , (born April 3, 1756 in Gardelegen , † February 4, 1835 in Freiberg ) was a German mathematician , administrative officer and university professor .

Life

Busse was the son of superintendent Thomas Christian Busse. He graduated from school in Gardelegen. After the death of his father, he first went to high school in Salzwedel , then to the Magdeburg convent school , which he graduated in 1775. At first he wanted to succeed his father and therefore began studying theology at the University of Halle . Here he graduated in 1778 with very good results. However, his enthusiasm was for mathematics and pedagogy , which he then devoted himself to.

Buses received for April 1, 1779 a reputation as a professor and board member at Philanthropinum Dessau . Here he became known at the court of Anhalt-Dessau and in 1785 received the education of the Hereditary Prince Friedrich of Anhalt-Dessau . When the Philanthropinum was closed in 1793, Prince Leopold III placed him. at the Dessauer Hof. During this time, Busse made a living in hydraulic engineering, in the management of fire extinguishing and in the organization of a widow's fund in the Principality and was awarded the title of Councilor in 1799 .

On December 12, 1801, Busse followed a call as professor of mathematics, physics and mining engineering at the Saxon mining academy in Freiberg . He was also appointed to the Commission Council. The philosophy faculty of the university awarded him an honorary doctorate ( Dr. phil. Hc ) in 1808 . In 1810 he was elected to the council of the city of Freiberg and received the office of senator . On June 29, 1811, King Friedrich August of Saxony paid tribute to Busses by raising him to the nobility , and in 1817 by being appointed to the royal Saxon mountain commissioner. The University of Wilna awarded him the title of Honorary Professor in 1825 , and the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV in 1829 with a gold medal. In 1827 he was on full pay first professor of mathematics in the retirement offset 1829 a festival held to his service anniversary.

Busse was a member of many scientific societies. The politician Friedrich von Busse is his grandson.
