Georg Zauner (Author)
Georg Zauner (born April 17, 1920 in Göttingen ; † October 4, 1997 ) was a German director and science fiction author.
Life
Georg Zauner was mainly active as a director, screenplay and non-fiction writer. He shot commercials, documentaries, short and educational films for television. For the film Energy from Matter he received the film tape Lola in silver at the German Short Film Award in 1956 .
Zauner began to write fantastic literature relatively late and in 1980 published Die Enkel der Raketenbauer, a novel composed of numerous snippets of scattered information and diary entries about a post-apocalyptic Bavaria, with which he immediately won the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize for the best novel of the year . His second science fiction book deals with a similar topic, but follows more traditional narrative structures. In The Forbidden Continent (1983), destroyed Europe has become an adventure playground for African expeditions, a place to find lost knowledge. Zauner later turned to fantasy .
Georg Zauner is the father of the musician Stefan Zauner from the band Münchener Freiheit .
