Georg von Porbeck

Georg Reinhard Dietrich von Porbeck (born June 18, 1766 in Marburg , † September 25, 1837 in Kassel ) served as a civil servant, lawyer and high school professor for various German princes during the Ancien Régime . In the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia he was a judge and then he served as a Prussian official.

Life

His father was the place major Ludwig von Porbeck. (1725– approx. 1798). His mother was Katharina Christina Sibylla née Kirchmeyer (1725–1789). Like his brothers Bernhard and Otto , he studied law in Marburg.

From 1786 to 1789 he was employed at the Reich Chamber of Commerce in Wetzlar . After that he was Councilor in the Principality of Neuwied , where he 1791 Chef de Cabinet was. In 1798 he joined the Bentheim-Steinfurt family ; There he was a councilor, "Advocatus domus et fisci" and professor juris primarius at the Arnoldinum grammar school and court judge .

In 1793 he married Elise von Zenck († 1828). Their son, Bernhard Albrecht von Porbeck, also became a lawyer, but died in 1821. Their daughter Luise married District Administrator Emil von Bernuth .

In 1803, Porbeck changed to Orange-Nassau services as the government and chamber director of Corvey . During the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia (1807-1813) Porbeck was president of the district civil tribunal in Höxter . In addition, as a representative of the Fulade Department, he was a member of the imperial estates of the Kingdom of Westphalia . After the end of French rule he was commissioner for the occupation of the Principality of Corvey by the House of Orange.

From 1815 he was provincial and city court director in Prussian service. In 1816 he was first government vice-president and director of the first department in Aachen before he was transferred to Arnsberg that same year . There he was government vice-president from 1819.

Porbeck retired in 1836 and lived with his brother Otto in Kassel until his death.
