George Friedrich von der Albe (* 1662 in Pollwitten, East Prussia , † January 9, 1717 in Halberstadt ) Prussian major general and governor in Lötzen .

Life

He came from an old aristocratic Prussian family who lived on the Condehnen manor . In 1682 he joined the Danish service as an ensign. In 1688 he became Rittmeister in Sonsfeld's Dragoon Regiment , in 1692 major , 1695 lieutenant colonel . In January 1703 he became a colonel and commander of the regiment. On January 21, 1710 he became a brigadier of the cavalry . His boss , Lieutenant General Friedrich Wilhelm von Wittenhorst-Sonsfeld , died in 1711 , and on June 19, 1711 von der Albe became boss of the cuirassier regiment No. 7 (at that time still a dragoon regiment, from 1717 cuirassiers ). On May 12, 1713 he was appointed major general. From 1703 to 1712 he was a clerk in Lötzen. The regiment fought in the Palatinate War of Succession (1688–1697), and in the Spanish War of Succession (1701–1714). Albe was wounded in the Battle of Malplaquet (1711).

During the Great Northern War (1700–1721) he commanded the Prussian troops in 1715 during the successful siege of Wismar . At that time it was the largest fortress in Europe.

He was married to a woman Hedwig von Raab from Kleve . Her son Friedrich Wilhelm von der Albe († February 17, 1758) became Major in the Prussian Army and Canon in Halberstadt . He was married to Albertine Luise von Bismarck , the daughter of the Russian Lieutenant General Ludolf August von Bismarck . With him the line died out.
