Georges Cabana

Georges Cabana (born October 22, 1894 in Granby (Québec) , † February 6, 1986 in Sherbrooke ) was Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sherbrooke .

Life

Georges Cabana was ordained a priest on July 28, 1918 . Pius XII. appointed him on May 24, 1941 Coadjutor Archbishop of Saint-Boniface and Titular Archbishop of Anchialus .

He was ordained bishop by the Apostolic Delegate in Canada , Ildebrando Antoniutti , on June 30 of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Sherbrooke, Philippe Sérvule Desranleau and the auxiliary bishop in Saint-Hyacinthe , Arthur Douville .

The Pope named him coadjutor archbishop of Sherbrooke on January 29, 1952. After Philippe Sérvule Desranleau's death, he succeeded him on May 28, 1952 as Archbishop of Sherbrooke. He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . Paul VI appointed him after his resignation as Archbishop of Sherbrooke on February 7, 1968 titular Archbishop of Succuba . He resigned from this office on November 27, 1970.
