The Ger is a river in France that runs in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region . It rises in the Pyrenees , on the northwest flank of the Cap de Gauch summit (2147 m), in the municipality of Melles . The source lies just outside the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park and is only about five kilometers from the border with Spain . The river generally drains in a northerly direction through the historic province of Comminges and flows into the Garonne as a right tributary after 37 kilometers in the municipality of Pointis-Inard .
