Gerald Huber

Gerald Nikolaus Huber (born June 13, 1962 in Landshut ) is a Bavarian journalist , historian and writer .

Life

Gerald Huber grew up in Landshut. After graduating from the Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium , he studied history and German at the University of Regensburg and the University of Munich from 1981 and graduated with a master's degree. Since 1987 he has been an employee of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation . From 1994 to 2007 he was a correspondent in the Ingolstadt region . Since 2007 he has been in charge of the Zeit für Bayern series on Bayern 2 . Huber is married and lives in Munich.

With his Bayern-2 broadcasting series Kleine Bavarian Wortkunde , in which he explains the etymology of terms in the Bavarian language and their grammatical connections, Huber has made a name for himself as an expert in the Bavarian language. As such, he appears as a speaker in Bavaria. The radio reports have appeared on five CDs and in a book. He is also the author of programs and books on historical and cultural topics. Together with the Landshut early music ensemble Ballo nobile he performs at musical readings.

For his small Bavarian Wortkunde 2009 Huber got together with Marcus H. Rosenmüller and Traudi Siferlinger the Tassilo Medal of the Society Bavarian language and dialects eV, and in 2010 the Johann Andreas Schmeller award. Also in 2010 he became a member of the Munich tower scribe .

He has been involved in various Rotary clubs since 2000 and was district governor in 2017/18.
