Gerard Walschap Prize
The Gerard Walschap Prize (Flemish: Gerard Walschap Prijs , also called Literatuurprijs Gerard Walschap-Londerzeel or Seghers Literatuurprijs ) was a Belgian literature prize that was awarded every two years from 1999 to 2009.
The award was launched in 1998 by the Belgian municipality of Londerzeel in collaboration with the Seghers Better Technology Group . In 1998, the 100th birthday of the writer Gerard Walschap , who was born in Londerzeel, was celebrated. The award was intended to honor the writer's life and work. The first award ceremony took place on October 31, 1999 at the Book Fair (Boekenbeurs) in Antwerp .
The Gerhard Walschap Prize was announced for young writers who had previously published no more than four prose works. The work could be a novel or a collection of short stories originally written in Dutch. The prize money was 7,500 euros.
