Gerd Henniger
Gerd Henniger (born June 26, 1930 in Chemnitz , † October 14, 1990 in Berlin ) was a German art historian , writer and translator .
Life
Gerd Henniger spent his youth in Chemnitz. In 1949 he took a study of art history , German studies and history at the University of Jena on. After moving to West Berlin in 1950 , he continued his studies at the Free University of Berlin . 1955 doctorate he there with a work on Paul Klee for Doctor of Philosophy . In 1955/56 he stayed in Paris for further studies . From 1957 to 1960 Henniger was a lecturer in art history at the Berlin Master School for Graphics and Book Industry ; from 1958 to 1965 he worked as a lecturer at Henssel-Verlag . He made trips to France , Italy , Yugoslavia and Greece . From 1965 he was a freelance writer ; from 1968 onwards he lived in Spain for a long time . He was married to Brigitte Weidmann (1940–1994). Henniger died in 1990 and was buried in the Zehlendorf cemetery in Berlin . (Field 020-440) His estate is in the German Literature Archive in Marbach .
Gerd Henniger was the author of short stories , essays , reviews and poems . From 1959 to 1963 he published the influential series "Das neue Lot". He also translated from French and English .
Gerd Henniger was awarded the Christoph Martin Wieland Translator Prize in 1987 .
