Gerd Schley (born September 13, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player and soccer coach. With his club Borussia Neunkirchen , the midfielder and defender won the championship three times in the then second-class Regionalliga Südwest in 1971, 1972 and 1974 . The return to the Bundesliga did not succeed, however, it remained with a deployment in the Bundesliga from the year of relegation 1968.

Career

Schley, he came from the Borussia youth, played in the ranks of Borussia Neunkirchen's most successful times . In the 1967/68 season he played a game in the Bundesliga . On matchday 31 he was substituted on in the second half in a 1-0 win against TSV 1860 Munich . At the end of the season, Borussia was relegated. Schley stayed in the club, the return to the upper house of German football was no longer successful, although he and his teammates qualified three times for the promotion round. With Borussia he was three times champion of the Regionalliga Südwest ( 1971 , 1972 , 1974 ) and qualified after the last season of the second-rate Regionalliga 1973/74 for the new 2nd Bundesliga South from the 1974/75 season. The team from the Ellenfeldstadion was relegated in 18th place and Schley had played in 19 second division games (1 goal). In the debut game on August 3, 1974, he won with Neunkirchen 3-1 at VfR Mannheim and scored a goal in the 66th minute. Coach Erwin Türk had to be replaced by Stefan Abadschiew in the final weeks due to illness .

Overall, Schley is listed with one Bundesliga game, 138 regional league appearances (32 goals), 23 games in the Bundesliga promotion round (4 goals) and 19 games in the 2nd Bundesliga (1 goal).

After finishing his professional career in the summer of 1976, he became a player-coach at SV Rohrbach, which he remained until 1980. From the 1981/82 season Schley trained again the Rohrbacher with whom he was 1985 district league champion. 1985 Schley switched to Viktoria St. Ingbert as a trainer.

His son Michael Schley is a regional politician.
