Gorses is about 32 kilometers west-southwest of Aurillac and about 17 kilometers north-northwest of Figeac . Gorses is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Latouille in the north and northwest, Lacam-d'Ourcet in the north, Sénaillac-Latronquière in the north, Latronquière in the east, Lauresses in the east and southeast, Saint-Cirgues in the southeast, Montet-et-Bouxal in the south, Saint-Médard-Nicourby in the southwest, Terrou in the west and Ladirat in the northwest.
history
On May 11, 1944, the German 2nd SS Panzer Division committed a war crime against the local population in their search for resistance fighters of the Maquis.
