Attractions

Parish Church of Saint-Saturnin

The former nave and bell tower probably date from the second half of the 12th century, as does the capital , which is reused as the foot of a holy water basin . The new construction of the apse on a rectangular floor plan was carried out at the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century. A side chapel was added on the south side at an unknown time. Only the remains of a shield arch are left of her, showing that she had a ribbed vault . When the new nave was built between 1854 and 1855, the chapel was demolished. The sundial on the church tower bears the year "1790". The stained glass windows were made by Louis Saint-Blancat from Toulouse in 1919. With the construction of the new nave, the easting was abandoned in favor of a north-south orientation . The former choir was converted into an east side chapel.

Favard mansion

The name of the property comes after Catherine Didon from a family of farmers who once tilled the land on a simple farm. A name change could explain why there is no mention of it in the records prior to the 15th century, while remains testify to a relatively handsome building from the 13th or 14th century. the evidence about the later owner and seigneur of Favard seems contradictory. It seems certain that the Colomb family, originally from Laguépie , owned the land until the French Revolution , during which the mansion was set on fire.

The location of the property is high above the valley of the Ruisseau de Planioles. After the Hundred Years War , in the late 15th or 16th centuries, two round towers were built on the sides of the house while it was being rebuilt at the same time. A large pavilion with a staircase was added in 1628, as evidenced by an inscription above the entrance. There is also a coat of arms there, most of which cannot be identified. At the same time, a narrow wing was added to the southeast. The main wing contains part of the medieval masonry made of ashlar , in particular with the remains of a pointed arched entrance and traces of two large pointed arched arcades . The windows on the first floor of the staircase pavilion are decorated with Doric pilasters and fluted consoles . Horizontal loopholes can be seen in its parapet , as well as on the south-east wing. The height of the northeast tower was reduced to the level of the main wing. Apartments for the farmers and outbuildings complete the estate, which is now privately owned and not accessible to the public.
