At the beginning of the 19th century, the place still had around 1,000 inhabitants. After that, the number of inhabitants - intensified by the phylloxera crisis in viticulture and the mechanization of agriculture - continuously fell to the lows of the last few decades.
economy
In the Haut-Quercy , agriculture was primarily self-sufficient , which also included viticulture until the 19th century, but which was almost completely abandoned after the phylloxera crisis . Today - in addition to agriculture, retail and handicrafts - tourism in the form of renting holiday apartments ( gîtes ) plays an important role in the economic life of the municipality.

The Château de Puy-Launay originally dates from the 14th century; however, it was rebuilt again and again in the following centuries - its current three-storey appearance essentially goes back to the 16th century. The imposing residential wing ( corps de logis ) is framed by two rounded corner towers. The building was classified as a monument historique in 1989 .
