Gerd Schulz

Gerd Schulz (born June 5, 1947 in Drewin , Neustrelitz ) is a German former functionary of the FDJ and politician of the SED in the GDR as well as a former politician of the PDS .

Life

The son of a worker graduated from the Advanced High School and graduated with the high school and the training of skilled workers to the industrial business from. After he became a member of the FDJ in 1964, he became involved in it and was awarded the Artur Becker Medal for the first time in 1965 , the FDJ's highest honor. In 1966 he began studying engineering at the Technical University of Chemistry (THC) Merseburg and graduated in 1971 with a degree in engineering . During his studies between 1968 and 1971 he was deputy secretary of the FDJ basic organization of the THC Merseburg, was a member of the SED in 1969 and was awarded the Artur Becker Medal again in 1971.

After he graduated from the party school of the Halle district from 1971 to 1972 , he was initially secretary of the FDJ basic organization of the THC Merseburg, before he was first secretary of the FDJ district management of the VEB Buna-Werke between 1974 and 1978 and in 1975 again with the Artur- Becker Medal was honored. Subsequently, he was first deputy head and then from 1979 to 1980 head of the youth workers' department in the Central Council of the FDJ. During his activity as secretary of the Central Council of the FDJ from 1980 to 1985, he was awarded the battle title “For Merit for People and Fatherland” in 1982 and the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1983 .

In 1985, Schulz succeeded Wolfgang Herger as head of the youth department of the SED Central Committee . In this position, which he held until February 28, 1990, he also became a member of the Central Committee of the SED in 1986 and was a member of it until 1989. In addition, he was from 1986 to March 1990 as a representative of the FDJ member of the Volkskammer in the ninth electoral term and at the same time chairman of the youth committee during this time.

In December 1989 Schulz was a member of the working committee for the preparation of the extraordinary party congress of the SED .

Schulz, who began working as an employee in 1990, was deputy chairman of the PDS arbitration commission from December 1990 to March 1991 .
