Gerhard Becker (politician)

Gerhard Becker (born April 23, 1942 in Nidda , Hesse; † June 23, 2017 in Nidda - Bad Salzhausen ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament . From 2003 to 2008 Becker was deputy chairman of the main committee of the Hessian state parliament.

Life and work

After completing secondary school in 1959, Becker completed an apprenticeship as a high- voltage electrician , which he completed in 1963 with the examination to become a skilled worker . He then worked as a construction site electrician and from 1969 as an electrician until he passed the master craftsman's examination in 1970 . In the meantime he had done his military service from 1966 to 1967 . From 1971 he worked in an overhead line column at Oberhessische Vertriebsbetriebe AG .

Gerhard Becker was married and had a son.

Political party

In 1969 Becker joined the SPD. From 1977 to 1997 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district Wetterau and had been a member of the board of the SPD district Hessen- Süd since 1982 .

Becker was a member of the Niddas city ​​council from 1972 to 1985 and has been a member again since 1989 . From 1997 to 2001 he was head of the city ​​council .

From 1987 to April 5, 2008 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament . From 1991 to 1995 he was chairman of the subcommittee on nuclear facilities and from 1995 to 1999 deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group . He was elected in the Wetterau II constituency.

From 2003 to 2008 he was deputy chairman of the main committee of the Hessian state parliament.

Honors

On September 27, 2006 Becker received the Hessian Order of Merit on ribbon .
