Gerhard Ertl (* 1959 ) is an Austrian director , screenwriter and producer.

Live and act

Gerhard Ertl studied visual design, painting and graphics at the Art University Linz and sociology at the University of Linz.

He has been working with Sabine Hiebler since 1987 as a film producer , screenwriter , film director and visual artist . Together they produced and staged avant-garde films in the 1990s, which were invited and awarded at numerous international film festivals (Berlinale, New York Film Festival, Toronto and many more).

In addition, Hiebler / Ertl exhibited photo and video works in the field of visual art, among others at the Neue Galerie Graz, Ars Electronica , the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna and the Biennale de l'image Paris.

As a result, Hiebler / Ertl turned to full-length feature films.

The award-winning films "Nogo", early 80s and Chucks were made .

Gerhard Ertl was a long-time member of the board of directors of the Austrian Film Association and was chairman of the board from 2011 to 2013.

Since 2015 he has been a board member of the Academy of Austrian Films .
