Gerhard Folkerts

Gerhard Folkerts (born October 23, 1944 in Meiningen ) is a German concert pianist and composer .

Gerhard Folkerts grew up in Emden , studied at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater and lived in Uetersen in the 1980s , where he also worked as an artist. A few years later he moved to Wedel near Hamburg , where he lives and works today. He studied piano with Eckart Besch, Erich Böhlke, Conrad Hansen and Tatjana Nikolajewa. In his piano recitals he has specialized in symphonic works by the composer Mikis Theodorakis . He also organizes literary song evenings with singers / actresses , for example with Gina Pietsch and Yalda Rebling, both in Berlin. Gerhard Folkerts composes piano and chamber music works as well as song cycles and music for numerous literary programs.

Awards

From 1978 to 1991 Gerhard Folkerts appeared in the music duo Folkerts , which as a duo received the artist grant of the state of Lower Saxony in 1983 and the culture prize of the Pinneberg district , Schleswig-Holstein in 1984 . On March 6, 2010 he was admitted to the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) in Salzburg / Austria .
