Gerhard Gmoser

Gerhard Gmoser (born January 2, 1925 in Graz ; † 1999 ) was an Austrian ambassador and oil painter .

Life

From 1951 to 1952, Gerhard Gmoser was a clerk at the Financial Directorate of Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland and studied law at the University of Vienna , where he obtained his doctorate in law . The Pontifical University of Salamanca awarded him an honorary doctorate .

From 1952 to 1955 he was an attaché in Moscow under Norbert Bischoff and visited Rudolf Appelt . From 1956 to 1959 he was the third class embassy secretary in Buenos Aires . He held the office of chargé d'affaires in Rabat from 1961 to 1964. He then worked in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs until 1966 . In 1966 he also worked in Bonn and then until 1968 in Dakar , Senegal under Peter Jankowitsch . From 1968 to 1974 he was an ambassador in Suharto in Jakarta and consecutively at Ferdinand Marcos in Manila accredited

In 1974 he headed the cipher and translation service at the Foreign Ministry. From March 1978 to 1981 he was accredited as ambassador to Jorge Rafael Videla in Buenos Aires and Alfredo Stroessner in Asunción . He signed a double taxation treaty in Argentina . From 1984 to May 14, 1986 he was ambassador to Madrid . and from 1989 to 1993 he was also consecutively accredited with the government in Reykjavík , based in Copenhagen .
