Gerhard König (actor)

Gerhard König (born June 7, 1957 in Linz ) is an Austrian actor who also plays at the Burgtheater in Vienna .

life and work

König completed his Matura in 1975 in Graz and studied acting there from 1981 to 1984. After two play contracts at the Graz Schauspielhaus , he moved to the Wuppertaler Bühnen in 1984 , where he was a permanent member of the ensemble for four years. In 1988 he moved to Berlin as a freelance actor , and in 1995 to Vienna . König played in the direction of numerous well-known directors, such as Andreas Baesler , Augusto Boal , Andrea Breth , Alexander Brill , Helmut Palitsch , Michael Thalheimer , Alexander Waechter and Mark Zurmühle . He performed at the Theatermanufaktur Berlin and the Literaturhaus Berlin , at the Clingenburg Festival , at the Stadttheater Mödling , at the Shakespeare Festival on the Rosenburg and went on tour with the Euro-Studio Landgraf . His repertoire ranges from Shakespeare , Schiller , Dumas and Oscar Wilde to the present day and mainly includes character roles.

König can also be seen and heard on television and radio . His solo program "On love, its symptoms and causes, and how one can be cured of it" is based on the anatomy of melancholy by Robert Burton (1577–1640).
