Gerhard M. Hotop

Gerhard M. Hotop (born June 25, 1924 in Munich ; † January 21, 2014 there ) was a German graphic designer . He lived in Munich-Schwabing and had been married to Margarete Tittes since 1951. With this he had four daughters.

After military service and captivity GM Hotop 1947 to 1949 made his training as a commercial artist u. a. with Emil Preetorius in Munich. From 1948 he worked as a freelance graphic artist, primarily as a book graphic artist and illustrator. GM Hotop equipped approx. 5000 books from ( dust jacket , illustrations , publisher's brochures, posters , typography ). He worked for many well-known German publishers, a. a. Wilhelm Andermann Verlag, Verlag CH Beck , Benziger , Bertelsmann , Verlag Braun & Schneider , Brockhaus , CC Buchners, Book Guild Gutenberg , books of the 19 , Desch, Diederichs, Don Bosco Verlag , Droemer Knaur , Ehrenwirth, S. In 1960/61 he designed posters, publications and the two-volume documentation for the World Eucharistic Congress in Munich.

From 1967 to 1982 GM Hotop worked as a freelancer for the Ruhr coal district settlement association (today the Ruhr regional association ), public relations department (concepts, brochures, publications, posters).

In 1969 GMHotop co-founded the working group TEAM 70, (1978 to 1993 managing partner) responsible for conception and design . As an advertising agency , agency for communication and public relations , TEAM 70 (GM Hotop) created a new campaign style in the election campaigns of the parties CSU , CDU Baden-Württemberg, CDU Krefeld, ÖVP Salzburg and for other political institutions such as Hanns -Seidel Foundation . TEAM 70 carried out campaigns for population censuses , crime prevention and worked for various federal and state ministries. TEAM 70 designed the corporate design, advertisements, posters for various institutions and companies, such as Bayernwerk AG , Bavarian Red Cross , ABZ Essen, Munich Airport , Lodenfrey-Werke, and the Hirmer clothing store in Munich.

Family ties

Great-grandfathers of GM Hotop were Johann Robert von Capitain and Johann Georg von Steidle , his uncle was Luitpold Steidle , his nephew is Rainald Goetz ; his brother-in-law was Hans-Reinhard Müller . A great uncle was the church architect Richard Steidle (architect) .
