Gerhard Mangott

Gerhard Mangott (born June 9, 1966 in Zams ) is an Austrian political scientist and professor for international relations at the University of Innsbruck with a focus on Eastern Europe and Russia.

Gerhard Mangott attended the federal high school in Landeck ( Tyrol ). In 1984 he graduated from high school . From 1984 to 1989 he studied political science , history and Slavic studies at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Salzburg . He specialized in the field of "Comparative Government and the Political Systems of Eastern Europe ". In 1989, he received the Master of Philosophy in professional political science. In 2001 he received his doctorate in political science with a thesis submitted to Anton Pelinka and Fritz Plasser . Gerhard Mangott completed his habilitation in 2002 and holds the venia docendi in political science. On October 1st, 2015 he became professor for international relations at the University of Innsbruck.

career path

From 1989 to 1991 Gerhard Mangott worked at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Innsbruck as part of the research project : “ Social Democracy in the Ghetto . On the situation of social democracy in western Austria ”on behalf of the Dr. Karl Renner Institute in Vienna . From 1991 to 2008 he worked as a Russia and Eastern Europe consultant at the Austrian Institute for International Politics (OIIP) in Laxenburg and Vienna. Since July 1, 2000, Gerhard Mangott has been working at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Innsbruck. Since March 1, 2003, Gerhard Mangott has been ao. Univ.-Prof. for political science at the University of Innsbruck. On October 1, 2015, Gerhard Mangott was appointed university professor for political science with a focus on international relations. His main research area is international politics and comparative regime theory. Gerhard Mangott is an expert in the field of regime doctrine of Russia and Ukraine , arms control and proliferation as well as energy security of the European Union in the oil and gas sector. Since 2009 Gerhard Mangott has also been Scientific Adviser on Post-Soviet Affairs at the OIIP in Vienna. Gerhard Mangott works as a reviewer for the British 'Economic and Social Research Council' (ERSC), the 'Volkswagen Foundation', the 'Jubilee Fund' of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), the 'Swiss National Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research' and various scientific journals .
