Gerhard Possart

Gerhard Possart (born September 2, 1923 in Linz ; † August 25, 1996 ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Was Possart Member of the Upper Austrian provincial parliament , Minister and Governor -Stellvertreter in the Upper Austrian Government .

education and profession

Possart grew up as the son of a civil servant in Linz and graduated in 1942 after attending elementary and secondary school at the Linz Federal High School. He was then immediately drafted into the Wehrmacht and was used in Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union. After being wounded three times, he attended the officers' school in Zagreb and was wounded again in Berlin shortly before the end of the Second World War . Possart became a prisoner of war in the Soviet Union and was released early as a 40 percent war invalid.

After his return, Possart initially worked for an insurance company and joined the state service on June 1, 1946. Possart was given the official title of real councilor in 1965 and the official title of councilor in 1981 . In 1989 Possart retired.

politics

Possart joined the ÖVP in 1948 after organizing political courses in Wartholz an der Rax in 1946. He also became a union member in 1946 and was involved in the ÖAAB . He participated in the ÖAAB organization in the state service and worked on the decentralized development of operational organizations. After Possart moved into the Linz municipal council in 1955, he ran for third place in the 1961 state elections in the Hausruckviertel constituency and moved into the state parliament after the election. From 1979 Possart renounced his state parliament mandate and was only a member of the state government. From October 19, 1966, Possart was a member of the Provincial Government of Upper Austria and was a member of the Provincial Governments Gleißner VII and VIII , Wenzl I and II as well as Ratzenböck I , II and III . On May 5, 1971, Possart was elected Deputy Governor. In his function as a member of the state government, Possart was responsible for the areas of personnel, sports and youth promotion as well as sanatoriums and nursing homes. The expansion of the Upper Austrian hospitals took place during his tenure.

From 1978 Possart was chairman of the ÖVP state parliament club. From 1949 he held the position of regional organizational officer in the ÖAAB and was elected deputy regional chairman of the ÖAAB in 1960. In addition, from 1948 he was the deputy district chairman of the ÖAAB in Linz-Land and from 1948 the main district chairman of the ÖVP Linz city. In 1966 he was promoted to regional chairman of the ÖAAB and thus also became deputy regional chairman of the ÖVP. In the union, Possart was chairman of the provincial executive committee of the Upper Austrian Public Service Union between 1967 and 1989 and from 1956 to 1966 first chairman of the provincial personnel committee. In 1958 he founded the Federal Section 8 “State Administration” of the public service union and was chairman of this section until 1977. Possart left politics in October 1989.

Private

Possart was married and had a son (Peter Possart senior). After his death he was buried in the Barbara cemetery in Linz (section 16, grave 390).
