Gerhard of Pelet-Narbonne

Gerhard Friedrich von Pelet-Narbonne (born February 8, 1840 in Friedeberg , † October 11, 1909 in Charlottenburg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and military writer.

Life

After his education in the cadet corps , Pelet-Narbonne was hired on May 2, 1857 as a characterized portepeef ensign in the 4th Uhlan Regiment of the Prussian Army . In February 1858 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant , graduated from the War Academy and in 1866 took part in the German War as an adjutant at the General Command of the II Army Corps . As Rittmeister in the 6th Uhlan Regiment , Pelet-Narbonne fought in the war against France in 1870/71 . From 1875 to 1878 he worked in the War Ministry , rose to lieutenant colonel by 1881 and was commander of the Hanoverian Hussar Regiment No. 15 . This was followed by assignments as commander of the 15th , 30th and 33rd Cavalry Brigade until he was commissioned on June 29, 1891 with the leadership of the 1st Division in Königsberg . In the same year Pelet-Narbonne was promoted to lieutenant general and commander of the division . In this capacity, he received the Order of the Crown, 1st Class , in 1893 and took his leave on May 14, 1894 .

Pelet-Narbonne had already worked as a military writer during his active service. He published a. a. in military-weekly and editor was by Heinrich von Lobell launched annual reports on the changes and progress in military affairs .
