action

After his family was killed by whites in a raid, Chief Geronimo has only one goal: to drive the whites out of the southwestern United States. He gets weapons and ammunition for his project from Gillespie, an unscrupulous dealer. The Indians protest, the US Army sends General Steele to Fort Grant in Arizona.

Steele, who is very disciplined, makes sure that his troop consists only of experienced soldiers. When his son John, whom he has not seen for years, is commanded directly from the military academy as a lieutenant to the troops, he turns him away. John's friendship with Captain Starrett and the Indian scout Sneezer doesn't stop him from rebelling against his domineering father. He decides to leave the army and go to California with his fiancée Alice and his mother.

On the trip to California, the carriage is attacked by Indians. Alice is injured, John's mother is killed. The young lieutenant wants to avenge his mother's death on Geronimo, but ends up in his captivity. Captain Starrett then wants to send a rescue force, but the general refuses to operate. Starrett disobeys the general's orders and tries on his own to save John. But he too is taken prisoner.

In the fort, the general realizes that he is losing his family and friends and leads a small troop of soldiers to free his son. Geronimo is informed that the general has left the protected fort. He sets an ambush using his two prisoners as bait. The troops find the prisoners and are attacked by Geronimo's warriors. The general is wounded, John and Starrett try to reach the fort to get reinforcements. Only John reaches the fort and leads the reinforcements to the battlefield. The troops arrive just in time to prevent Geronimo from killing the general. Father and son are now reunited.
