Gert Rabanus

Gert Rabanus (* 1923 ) is a German dubbing director and dialog book author .

Life

After use in the Second World War and captivity Gert Rabanus studied German literature and musicology in Göttingen and Bern .) At the Faculty of Georg-August University Göttingen , he was in 1957 with the dissertation to Goethe's reviews in the general Jenaischen literature newspaper for Doctor of philosophy (PhD.) PhD .

He then carried out various activities in publishing, film and television. He was the authorized representative of BetaFilm founded by Leo Kirch . Since 1964 he has mainly been active in the film dubbing industry. Gert Rabanus founded Lingua-Film GmbH in Munich in 1973 , in which he is still a partner. His son Benedikt Rabanus , who also works as a dubbing writer and director, took over the management of the company in the 1980s. However, since 2006 Linguafilm has not been active any more for economic reasons and only exists on paper.

In the course of his synchronous work, Gert Rabanus has participated in more than 500 productions. He is responsible for the German versions of numerous Charlie Chan films, as well as for several episodes of the popular television series Columbo . But Rabanus also directed dialogues for classic films such as Pride and Prejudice . One of his greatest challenges was the British Broadcasting Corporation's 33-part television adaptation of plays by William Shakespeare ( BBC Television Shakespeare ) between 1978 and 1985 .

In recognition of his “special achievements in dubbing” he received the jury's honorary award for “outstanding overall work” at the 2010 German Synchronous Award.

Apart from his synchronous work, Rabanus published the Kaiser directory together with Gesar Anssar and Helmut Kreuzer in 2003, which lists all books, articles, essays, lectures, reviews and forewords as well as all radio and television programs by Joachim Kaiser .

Gert Rabanus lives in Munich .
