Gianluca Busio was born in Greensboro , North Carolina and is the son of an Italian father, who was born in the Lombard city ​​of Brescia , and an African-American mother. He started playing football at the age of three and played in the youth teams of Greensboro United and North Carolina Fusion before joining the youth division of Sporting Kansas City in the summer of 2016 .
