Gill Swerts (born September 23, 1982 in Brasschaat ) is a Belgian football player .
Player career
Gill Swerts started his career as a professional footballer in 2001 at Excelsior Rotterdam . With Excelsior, he was promoted to the honor division as a regular player at the first attempt. After relegation in 2003, however, the right full- back moved to great local rivals Feyenoord Rotterdam , for whom he had already played in youth. After a year in which he could not fully assert himself, Swerts went to league rivals ADO Den Haag . There he found his way back to his old strength and after only one season he switched to Vitesse Arnheim . At Vitesse he also played on the left back for a long time. He used his good 2007/08 season with 34 appearances in which he scored three goals as a springboard for the transfer to the Dutch top club AZ Alkmaar . Here he was able to celebrate the Dutch championship title in his first season . He stayed with AZ for a total of two and a half years. In the 2010/11 season , however, he was hardly used, so he moved back to Feyenoord during the winter break. His contract there is initially on loan for six months and includes his full move to the Rotterdam team for the 2011/12 season. But the following season he played for the Danish club SønderjyskE . For the 2013/14 season he returned to the Netherlands and signed a two-year contract with NAC Breda .
National team
From 2006 to 2009, Gill Swerts played 17 international matches for Belgium . He scored his first international goal on April 1, 2009 in the game against Bosnia-Herzegovina .
