Gillian Crichton [ ˈkɹaɪtn̩ ] (born in Berlin ) is a German song, concert, oratorio, opera and operetta singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Gillian Crichton first studied musicology and violin in Belgium . She began her vocal studies at the University of Cardiff , which she continued at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Nicholas Powell, Iris Dell'Acqua and Ann Murray . She took part in master classes by René Jacobs , Marjana Lipovšek , Diane Forlano and Sena Jurinac .

This was followed by engagements at the State Theater in Mainz , at the State Theater Schwerin and at the Theater Basel . In 2002 she sang Juditha in the rarely performed opera Juditha triumphans by Antonio Vivaldi at the Rheinsberg Castle Festival . Gillian Crichton was a member of the ensemble at Theater Ulm from 2004 to 2010 .
