Ginette Garcin

Ginette Garcin (born January 4, 1928 in Marseille , † June 10, 2010 in Nanterre ) was a French actress and singer .

Life

Garcin was born as Ginette Marcelle Garcin . She had her first appearances as a singer in the 1940s at regional music festivals, for example in Aix-en-Provence in 1944 . In 1946 she got an engagement as a variety singer in the Music Hall Orchestra of Jacques Hélian . In the 1950s she worked with the French composer Loulou Gasté , whose songs she interpreted. In Rouen she appeared as a singer and actress in the revues of the Nouveau-Théâtre de Strélesky .

In 1950 she made her film debut in the music film Pigalle Saint-Germain-des-Prés by André Berthomieu , followed by Musique en tête by Georges Combret and Claude Orval in 1951 . Her trips to the cinema initially remained the exception. In the 1960s she mainly interpreted songs by Bobby Lapointe and Jean Yanne on record and in cabaret . From the beginning of the 1970s Garcin took her film career again. In 1971 she played together with Jean Gabin in La drapeau noir flotte sur la marmite . 1972 followed, again with Jean Gabin, the crime film The Killer and the Commissioner . Directed by Jean Yanne, she starred in the comedies The Big Machine and Pardon, Comrades! Man is noble, helpless and rich . Other roles were the wife of Jean Carmet in the drama Monsieur Dupont (1974) directed by Yves Boisset and the mother of the main female character in the romantic comedy Cousin, cousin of Jean-Charles Tacchella . In 1979 she was in the comedy Charles and Lucie by Nelly Kaplan to see. Directed by Claude Lelouch , she starred in the film drama Everyone will receive their reward in 1981 . She made the films The Story of a Smile (1984) and My Man (1996) with Bertrand Blier . Later she could be seen in the cinema in the popular comedy La beuze (2003).

Since the 1970s, Garcin has also worked regularly as a stage actress. In 1971 she appeared at the Théâtre Michel in Paris in the comedy Le nu au tambour (original title: Nude with Violin ) by Noël Coward . Also in 1971 she was seen at the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Paris in the play Au bal des chiens by Rémo Forlani . In 1986, she played at the Théâtre des Bouffes in Le Nègre by Didier Van Cauwelaert . In 1990 she wrote the successful play Le clan de veuves , in which she appeared en suite for four years with her colleagues Jackie Sardou and Mony Dalmès until 1993 . In 1997 she appeared under the direction of Alain Sachs in Le Passe-Mureille , a musical by Didier van Cauwelaert (lyrics) and Michel Legrand (music) based on motifs from the short story of the same name by Marcel Aymé . In 2001 she took on the role of Ernestine in the musical Mistinguett la dernière revue in a production by Jérôme Savary . In 2006 she played in the revival of Le clan de veuves at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens. She played her last theater role in May / June 2009 at the Théâtre des Variétés in the musical comedy Monique est demandée caisse 12 by Raphaël Mezrahi .

From the late 1980s, Garcin also regularly took on television roles. From 1987 to 1991 she played the role of the comical stepmother in the sitcom Marc et Sophie . Other television series were Imogène and Père et Maire . She achieved particular fame among French television audiences in the role of great-aunt Jeanne Ferrière , who she played from 2001 until her death in the series Famille d'accueil .

Garcin had had cancer since 2008 . She was in the middle of further filming of the series Famille d'accueil when she had to be admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital in Nanterre ( Hôpital de Nanterre ) because of an acute relapse . She died there on the morning of June 10, 2010.
