Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri (Bishop)

Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri (born January 19, 1753 in Fermo , † December 24, 1822 in Rome ) was an Italian diplomat of the Holy See , Curia Bishop and Bishop of Rimini .

Life

He was the son of Count Onorio Guerrieri. The ordination received Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri on October 6, 1782. He completed his studies at the University La Sapienza and closed it on 21 April 1785 the academic degree of Doctor iuris utriusque from. Afterwards he was auditor of the nunciature in Lucerne, from November 1794 Internuntius there for more than six months , finally auditor at the nunciature in Lisbon. At the age of 50 he entered the service of the Curia in 1803 and became papal house prelate , in 1804 apostolic protonotary and canon of the Vatican basilica , and in 1806 also judge at the court of justice in the cathedral building of St. Peter .

Pope Pius VII appointed him titular Archbishop of Athenae on March 16, 1808 . The episcopal ordination donated him on March 20, 1808 Bartolomeo Cardinal Pacca ; Co- consecrators were Domenico Spinucci , Archbishop of Benevento , and Giuseppe Graziosi , Auxiliary Bishop in Palestrina . On September 26, 1814 Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri became coadjutor of Pietro Maria Negroni as secretary of the Consistorial Congregation and succeeded him on May 9, 1816 after his death. Two years later, on April 6, 1818, he became secretary of the Congregation for Bishops and Regulars. He was appointed Bishop of Rimini on September 27, 1819 with the personal title of Archbishop , from which office he resigned on January 12, 1822.

Giovanni Francesco Guerrieri died on December 24, 1822 in Rome and was buried in the church of Santa Maddalena .
