Gisela Haehnel (born March 11, 1952 in Offenbach am Main , † 2009 in Cologne ) was a German educator , author , translator and publisher .

Live and act

Gisela Haehnel became known for her publishing work and her translations from French and Belgian. She edited for example Guy de Maupassant and the fictional character Charles Bovary by Gustave Flaubert . In 2001 she was at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn with the work Charles Bovary - a canceled fictional character doctorate .

During her work as a translator, she discovered well-known authors such as Pascale Petit , Heinrich Steinfest , Nasser Zahedi and Georges Raillard.

Gisela Haehnel died in Cologne as a result of a brain tumor.

Publisher edition sisyphos

Together with her partner, the trained typesetter Winfried Fuegen, Haehnel founded the small publisher edition sisyphos in 1992 , which publishes translations from French, poetry , anthologies and academic series . The publisher places particular emphasis on the so-called "bilingual edition" (French / German) as well as on French / Belgian realism and naturalism.

Graphically, the program series had a black and white cover design throughout and from the start . This impressed not with an eye-catching and colorfully conspicuous, but always subtle and externally designed always uniform series of books.

The anthologies include texts by well-known authors such as Georges Eekhoud , Markus Orths , Stefanie Golisch , Mike Bartel , Ron Winkler , Achim Wagner and Friedrich Grotjahn .
