Giuseppe Zoppi (born September 12, 1896 in Broglio TI , † September 18, 1952 in Locarno-Monti ) was a Swiss philologist and literary critic .

Life

Zoppi was born the son of Giuseppe and Savina Dellamaria. After the Progymnasium in Locarno , he attended the college of St. Michael in Freiburg im Üechtland ; he was a licentiate phil. I at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) with a thesis on the poetry of Francesco Chiesa , then he was a teacher at the Progymnasium in Lugano , from 1924 teacher at the teachers' seminar in Locarno and from 1928 also rector. From 1931 he was a professor of literature at the ETH Zurich . He published, inter alia, Il libro dell'alpe (1922) and translations by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz and Conrad Ferdinand Meyer .
