Charles Ferdinand Ramuz
Charles Ferdinand Ramuz (born September 24, 1878 in Lausanne , † May 23, 1947 in Pully ) was a Swiss writer , poet , essayist and national poet and is considered the most important representative of Swiss literature in the French language .
Life
Ramuz was born the son of a grocer and later a wine merchant. After the Collège classique he attended high school and in 1896 enrolled in the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Lausanne . He made the decision to become a poet during a six-month stay in Karlsruhe . During his studies, he became a member of the Swiss Zofinger Association .
He first stayed in Paris around 1900 to continue his studies. After briefly teaching in Weimar with the Russian nobleman Moritz Prozor , he moved to Paris in 1904 to write a doctoral thesis on the poet Maurice de Guérin . However, he gave up this project and worked as a poet in Paris. It was there that he met his wife, the painter Cécile Cellier , whom he married in 1913. The daughter Marianne emerged from the marriage. In 1914 Ramuz left Paris and moved with his family back to Lausanne, Switzerland.
Act
Ramuz published numerous works and received many prizes for his work, including a. 1936 the Great Schiller Prize of the Swiss Schiller Foundation .
His work Histoire du soldat was set to music by Igor Stravinsky . In this set to music, a narrator reads and the actors dance and / or act. The novel Derborence , which is based on the events of the landslide in the Derborence basin in 1714, was filmed in 1985 by Francis Reusser under the same title. Farinet ou la fausse monnaie on the counterfeiter Joseph-Samuel Farinet served as a template for the film Farinet ou l'or dans la montagne by Max Haufler in 1938 , Si le soleil ne revenait pas 1987 for the film of the same name by Claude Goretta .
C.-F. Ramuz is depicted on the current eighth series of banknotes in the two hundred franc note .
