Moritz Prozor

Moritz Prozor ( Russian Маврикий Эдуардович Прозор transcribed Mavriky Eduardowitsch Prosor ) (* January 16 ^jul. / 28. January  1849 ^greg. In Vilnius ; † 10. May 1928 in Cimiez ) was a Russian diplomat and translator .

Life

Moritz Prozor was married to the Swedish Countess Marta Margareta Bonde (* 1855; † 1931, widowed Glydenstolpe).

From 1881 to 1884 he was legation secretary in Stockholm , where he saw a performance of the drama Ghosts in 1881 . With the consent of Henrik Ibsen , he and his wife translated his works into French , Rosmersholm in 1884 and Vildanden in 1886 . In 1885, Prozor made ardent propaganda for the works of Ibsen in France.

In 1887 he was the secretary of the embassy in Bern and translated ghosts with his wife . In 1890 he met Ibsen in Munich and translated Hedda Gabler . From 1892 to 1896 he was employed as a second class counselor in Saint Petersburg . From 1896 to 1897 he was consul general in Vienna , Geneva and Lausanne .

From November 1903 to June 1904 he was Minister Resident at Pauline von Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach in Weimar . This is where Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche relocated the Nietzsche archive in 1896 , with whom he spoke about the special relationship between Ibsen and Nietzsche.

By Dmitri Sergejewitsch Mereschkowski he translated the 1903 essay Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky into French.

From 1905 to 1909 he was envoy in Rio de Janeiro and was also accredited to the government in Buenos Aires . He was friends with Joaquim Nabuco .

He established diplomatic relations with the government of Paraguay for Nicholas II (Russia) and in 1909 was able to present his credentials to Emiliano González Navero in Asunción . In January 1909 he also took up diplomatic relations with the government in Santiago de Chile . In 1910 he was Minister Resident in Hamburg , followed by Nikolaus Nikalowitsch Demerik.
