Gladstone Pereira della Valentina or Gladstone for short (born January 29, 1985 in Vila Velha ) is a Brazilian football player . In addition to the Brazilian citizenship, he also has the Italian one .
Club career
Gladstone last played for the Brazilian club Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte in his youth . There he was appointed to the first team for the 2003 season. With Cruzeiro he also celebrated the first championship title in club history as well as winning the Copa do Brasil and the national championship of Minas Gerais in his first professional season . In the summer of 2005 he was awarded to Juventus Turin for six months and then to the Italian second division team Hellas Verona for another six months . In both clubs he was rarely or never used, which is why he returned to Brazil in 2006. For the 2007/08 season he was awarded to Sporting Lisbon . The Portuguese had a purchase option for around 3.25 million euros at the end of the season, but did not withdraw it because the defender was never able to prevail against his rivals. In the meantime, Gladstone had won both the national cup and the Super Cup with Sporting. After leaving Lisbon, another 6-month loan deal followed with the Brazilian first division club Palmeiras São Paulo . Here, too, the club had a purchase option at the end of the season, but did not take it. In 2009, Gladstone played on loan at Náutico Capibaribe . After his contract with Cruzeiro expired, the defender signed a three-year contract with Romanian first division club FC Vaslui in February 2010 . With Vaslui he fought in the following years to win the Romanian championship, but without being able to win the title.
In mid-2012, Gladstone left Vaslui and returned to Brazil. He first played in the seasons 2012 and 2013 for ABC Natal in the Série B . The first half of 2014 he was under contract with AD Cabofriense , but moved to Gil Vicente FC in Portugal before the start of the season . There he was only used four times in the first half of the 2014/15 season . At the beginning of 2015 he returned to his home country.
National team
For the international match of the Brazilian national team on November 15, 2006 against Switzerland , Gladstone was appointed to the squad for the first time, but was not used. The new national coach Dunga was nominated for the games against Mexico and the United States in September 2007 .
