Glendyn Ivin is an Australian film director , screenwriter and producer .
biography
Since 2000 Glendyn Ivin has worked for Exit Films , a commercial production company based in Melbourne , where he also lives. As a director, he shot various commercials for Exit Films . In 2003 Ivin worked with the short film Cracker Bag for the first time on a stand-alone film, for which he wrote the screenplay and served as director and executive producer . After its release, Cracker Bag was surprisingly successful and received seven nominations for various film awards, four of which were won - including the Palme d'Or “Best Short Film” at the Cannes International Film Festival , which Jane Campion last made in 1986 with her short film An Exercise in Discipline - Peel had won. With the success of Cracker Bag , Ivin continued a number of successful Australian short film productions, and even in the years after Cracker Bag , Australian productions managed to be nominated for an Oscar for four years in a row - Adam Elliot won the award in 2004 for his animated film Harvie Krumpet . Three years after his success with Cracker Bag , the director released another short film entitled The Desert . Ivin also received an AFI Award nomination for his second work . In the same year he directed an episode of the Australian mystery television series Two Twisted .
Glendyn Ivin made his debut as a feature film director in 2009 when Last Ride, a film adaptation of Denise Young's award-winning novel The Last Ride , was produced. For this he worked with the award-winning cinematographer Greig Fraser and screenwriter Mac Gudgeon . The drama is about the escape of a violent father, played by Hugo Weaving , who killed his friend, and his son, played by Tom Russell, across Australia. It was only released in theaters in Australia and has been nominated for several Australian film awards. During the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival, Ivin also received the Black Pearl Award in the “Best New Narrative Director” category from the well-known Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami , which he particularly honored. After Last Ride , he was hired again for an Australian television series called Offspring , in which he directed two episodes. He directed the 2012 television film Beaconsfield , which earned him a nomination for the AACTA Award for Best Television Director, and is working on an initially eight-part series called Puberty Blues! , which was commissioned by the Australian broadcaster Network Ten and is based on the novel of the same name from 1979.
