Jorge Glusberg
Jorge Glusberg (born September 23, 1932 ; † February 2, 2012 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine publicist , university professor and cultural worker in art and architecture .
Life
Jorge Glusberg was director of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes (MNBA) in Buenos Aires from 1994 to 2003 and co-director of the International Association of Art Critics ( CICA ) based in Paris and co-director of the Art Department at the University of New York and of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Spain ( Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando ).
He was one of the initiators of the South American Pop Art Center, the Centro de Arte y Comunicación (CAYC) in Buenos Aires, of which he has been director since it was founded in 1968. The CAYC was regarded as the center of the avant-garde in the 1970 / 80s. In 1985 he founded the international architecture biennale in Buenos Aires, where Latin American architects met Norman Foster , Richard Meier , Zaha Hadid , Jean Nouvel , Justus Dahinden , César Pelli and Richard Rogers and many others.
Glusberg has published numerous books on art and architecture, with a focus on Latin American architecture. He took over the management and representation of various artists, intellectuals and collectors. He was an advisor to “Latin American Art” (USA), member of the editorial board of “Ars” (Italy) and correspondent for “Leonardo” (USA) and “ME” (Hungary).
He has worked as a professor at New York University in New York and as a speaker worldwide. The International Architecture Symposium “Man and Space” held at the Vienna University of Technology in 1984, attended by Jorge Glusberg as well as Justus Dahinden , Dennis Sharp , Bruno Zevi , Pierre Vago , Otto Kapfinger , Frei Otto , Paolo Soleri , Ernst Gisel and Ionel, attracted international attention Participation certificate . He was also a professor at the International Academy of Architecture (IAA).
