Glynis Penny
Glynis Penny ( Glynis Carol Penny, née Goodburn ; born January 28, 1951 ) is a former British long-distance runner .
Life
She took part in the World Cross Country Championships five times for England with the following placements:
- 1974 in Monza : 22
- 1975 in Rabat : 32
- 1976 in Chepstow : 16
- 1977 in Düsseldorf : 34
- 1979 in Limerick : 32
At the European Athletics Championships in Prague in 1978 , she finished 13th over 3000 m .
In 1983 she was third in the London Marathon . In 1986 she finished eighth in the London Marathon and fourth in the Great North Run . At the 1986 Commonwealth Games marathon in Edinburgh, she competed for England and came in seventh. In 1988 she won Roma - Ostia and the Vienna Spring Marathon .
In 1977 she became English cross-country champion, in 1977 and 1979 British champion over 3000 m.
Glynis Penny started for the Cambridge Harriers.
