The Gmina Knyszyn is an urban-and-rural municipality in the Powiat Moniecki of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name with about 2800 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the center of the Podlaskie Voivodeship in north-eastern Poland. One of the waters is the artificial lake Jezioro Zygmunta Augusta . The Puszczy Knyszyńskiej Forest and the Krajobrazowy Puszczy Knyszyńskiej Landscape Protection Park are located in the municipality .

In addition to the town that gives it its name, the town-and-country community is divided into the following school departments : Chobotki, Czechowizna, Grądy, Guzy, Jaskra, Kalinówka Kościelna, Lewonie, Nowiny Kasjerskie, Nowiny-Zdroje, Ogrodniki, Poniklica, Wodziłówka and, Wojtówka.
Other localities are: Cisówka, Jeleń, Knyszyn-Zamek, Kropiwnica, Mierestki and Stoczek.

State road 65 (DK 65) and Voivodship road 671 (DW 671) cross in Knyszyn . The DK 65 leads in a northerly direction via the district town of Mońki, 13 kilometers away , to the state border with the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad (Königsberg), 120 kilometers away . In a south-easterly direction, the road leads through Białystok, 25 kilometers away, to the state border with Belarus, about 80 kilometers away .
Knyszyn Station in the south of the city is on the Głomno – Białystok railway line . There are also the Czechowizna and Zastocze stops.
The nearest international airport is Frédéric Chopin Airport in Warsaw , 180 kilometers away.
