The Gmina Medyka is a rural municipality in the powiat Przemyski of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship in Poland . Your seat is the village of the same name with about 2600 inhabitants.
geography
The rural community borders the town of Przemyśl , ten kilometers from Medyka, and lies on the Polish-Ukrainian border . In Medyka there is a large border crossing to Ukraine at Droga krajowa 28 (DK 28) .
The municipality has an area of 60.7 km². 82 percent of the municipal area is used for agriculture and 1 percent for forestry.
history
Medyka was occupied by the Soviet Union in 1939 and became the capital of Medyka Rajons in 1940 . After the German occupation from 1941 to 1944, the place was a part of the Ukrainian SSR in Drohobych Oblast until 1947 . In 1948 Medyka came back to Poland.
From 1975 to 1998 the municipality was part of the Przemyśl Voivodeship .
structure
The rural community (gmina wiejska) comprises seven school departments (Sołectwa): Hureczko, Hurko, Jaksmanice, Leszno, Medyka , Siedliska and Torki.
These include the districts: Chałupki Medyckie, Dolne Hureczko, Garb, Górne Hureczko, Kaczmary, Kąt, Kolonia, Łapajówka, Oprenki, Zahipczyzna and Zaokop.
Attractions
The wooden church in Medyka was completed in 1608.
