The Gmina Ostrowice was a rural community in drawsko county of West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland , which was dissolved on January 1 of 2019. It had a little over 2500 inhabitants and was one of the smallest of the 114 municipalities in the voivodeship. Their seat was the village of the same name ( German Wusterwitz, district Dramburg ) with about 490 inhabitants.

The rural municipality Ostrowice covered an area of ​​150.30 km², which corresponded to 8.5% of the total area of ​​the Powiat Drawski . The waters included the lakes Jezioro Ostrowiec (Borner See) , Jezioro Dołgie ( Dolgensee ), the eastern edge of Jezioro Siecino ( Zetzinsee ) and the Kokna (kitchen flow ) , which flows into the Drawa ( Drage ).

Neighboring communities were: Czaplinek ( Tempelburg ), Drawsko Pomorskie ( Dramburg ) and Złocieniec ( Falkenburg ) in the Powiat Drawski as well as Brzeżno ( Briesen ), Połczyn-Zdrój ( Bad Polzin ) and Świdwin ( Schivelbein ) in the Powiat Świdwiński .

The Voivodeship Road 173 Połczyn-Zdrój ( Bad Polzin ) - Drawsko Pomorskie ( Dramburg ) runs through the area of ​​the former municipality from north to south.

history

Between 1975 and 1998, Ostrowice was part of the Köslin Voivodeship .

On January 1, 2019, the rural community was dissolved after it became insolvent. It is the first case in Polish history in which a bankrupt community was dissolved.

Rail transport

In 1903 a railway line from Falkenburg ( Polish Złocieniec) to Bad Polzin (Połczyn-Zdrój) was built. It was operated by the Deutsche Reichsbahn until 1945 and then by the Polish State Railway (PKP) until 1991 . After the shutdown, the dismantling of the railway systems began in 1995. The small village of Chlebowo (Klebow) was the only train station in the municipality.
