from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Goetz Buchholz , also Götz Buchholz , (* 1947 in Göttingen ) is a German architect and journalist . The author, and columnist for the literary magazine Federwelt , specialized in his adopted home of Hanover in publications on the history of the Lower Saxony state capital and the history of Lower Saxony , but also on trade union issues, particularly around the interests of " solo self-employed " in the fields Art , media , IT and education .

Life

Growing up in Stolberg (Rhineland) , with a temporary place of residence in Waghäusel near Karlsruhe , Goetz Buchholz completed his Abitur in Stuttgart , only to go to Hanover in 1967 "actually only to study ".

He studied architecture at the University of Hanover , graduating in 1974 as a Dipl.-Ing. and then worked in various Hanover architecture offices and at the Institute for Monument Preservation . A few years later, Buchholz began his journalistic activity in 1979, initially as editor- in- chief at " StadtMagazin skullspalter " and as a freelancer for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). In 1982 he initiated - together with other interested parties - the magazine NaNa - Hannoversche Wochenschau , which he edited from the first edition to the last issue before it had to stop its publication within a year for financial reasons.

In 1983 Goetz Buchholz and Michael Fender founded the press office context . He worked as a freelance journalist, later also together with Bettina Courant and Jens Dudziak , as a correspondent for Lower Saxony state politics for the Stern magazine , for the social democratic newspaper Vorwärts and for the Reuters news agency . For many years, Buchholz was also a member of the Lower Saxony state press conference .

Goetz Buchholz also did volunteer work, especially with the ver.di union , where he specialized more and more in the problem areas of free journalism and self-employment , documented by numerous publications. He also wrote for the former trade unions IG Chemie and IG Metall .

From 1990 to 1996, Goetz Buchholz wrote as a ghostwriter for political advertising, for example as an author of brochures or as a co-author of advertising campaigns for the state of Lower Saxony, EXPO 2000 , the SPD Lower Saxony or, for example, for the city of Hanover. In the same period Buchholz gave up his daily journalistic activities more and more.

From 2001 onwards, Buchholz's collaboration with mediafon developed as a new focus of activity , a GmbH financed primarily through orders from ver.di to provide professional advice to more than 30,000 " solo independent " union members, but also non-members from the fields of art, media, IT and education.
