Grüneberg (Trier)

The Grüneberg lies east of Trier and west of Mertesdorf , near where the Ruwer flows into the Moselle . It has a height of 347 m. The summit is in the Ruwer-Maximin district .

The Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 41 for motor vehicles and tanks of the Bundeswehr is located in the south-western area . The Maximin Grünhaus winery is located on the southern slope with the vineyards Grünhäuser Herrenberg , Grünhäuser Abtsberg and Grünhäuser Bruderberg .

The name Grüneberg is probably derived from the occasional veins of diabase ( green stone ), a marble-like greenish volcanic rock.

There are several bunker ruins on the Grüneberg .
