Grace.Will.Fall is a Swedish hardcore punk band from Jönköping that was founded in 2002.

history

The band was founded at the end of 2002 and consisted of singer Ulf Blomberg, guitarists Samuel Enocsson and Björn Isaksson, bassist Axel Svensson and drummer John Andersson. The band made their first appearance around Christmas time of the same year. After further live performances, including at the Popstad Festival in 2004 , which was organized annually by Sveriges Radio P3 , and the Bobfest , the largest Christian metal festival in Europe , as well as the publication of the first demos, a split release followed at the end of 2004 together with Counterblast, which another joined in 2006 together with M: 40. In the same year the group recorded 12 new songs in Tonteknik Studio in Umeå , where Refused , The Hives , In Flames and Poison the Well already recorded songs. The songs appeared in February 2007 as a self-titled debut album on Guideline Records . In January, the song Freedom could be heard on the sampler Songs to Set the Heart on Fire 2 , which was released for free at various concerts, including with Norma Jean . The publication was followed by other appearances, with the group also held a European tour. However, due to a member's hand injury and problems with the label, the group was only able to hold a moderate amount of performances. That changed in 2008, when the band made 50 appearances in seven different countries. Meanwhile, the band recorded their second album. The record titled Second Album was released on Midsummer Records in April 2009 , before going on tour through Europe again. After the bassist Axel Svensson broke up with the band, they had to cancel some tours. Erik Johansson joined the band as the new bass player at the end of the year. In 2010 the sampler Halvfabrikat Fick Oss Göra Det was released 1999–2009 , which celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Swedish label Halvfabrikat, for which Grace.Will.Fall contributed a song. In February 2010, the band went on tour with the new line-up, before a split release with Lower Than Atlantis , Talk Radio Talk and Mnmnts followed on the German label Redfield Records . The rest of the year the band wrote new material, which was released in February 2011 in the form of the EP Punkjävlar . The EP contained four new songs, three old songs that were re-recorded in the studio, and a cover version of Eddie Meduza's Punkjävlar . For the release, the band held a gig at a local club in Jönköping. In the same year the band went on a European tour again. In June 2011 the band recorded the first drum tracks for a new album. At the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012, the band continued to write new songs and recorded some new bass and guitar tracks. As the band's tenth anniversary was approaching, they went on tour through Sweden with M: 40 and Counterblast, who also celebrated anniversaries, performing in Lidköping , Jönköping and Gothenburg , among others . Meanwhile, guitarist Samuel Enocsson left the band. Since Hampus Mörk joined the line-up as the new bassist, the previous bassist Johansson decided to switch to the electric guitar.

style

According to Joachim Hiller from Ox-Fanzine , the second album features “disheveled, chaotic hardcore” that is reminiscent of Refused's music. With the desperation of Modern Life Is War , the group is reminiscent of other Scandinavian bands like JR Ewing and Traktor . In his review of Punkjävlar by Jens Kirsch from Ox-Fanzine , he stated that the band was a legitimate successor to Refused, although the band sounded more aggressive compared to its predecessors.
