Stevenson, he is the grandson of Hockey Hall of Fame member Glenn Hall .
Career
After Stevenson had initially played in junior teams in his hometown, he began 1999 a commitment in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Bonnyville Pontiacs . There he was named Rookie of the Year within the team at the end of the season . The following season he moved to the Grand Prairie Storm , which also played in the AJHL. In his second AJHL season, he improved his offensive statistics and took part in the league's All-Star Game.
After his time in Alberta, Stevenson began playing Mankato at Minnesota State University . After a good first season, he became a top performer in his sophomore year of college, and by the end of the year was the highest-scoring player in his sophomore year nationwide. Stevenson then dropped out in 2003, after he had signed a professional contract with the San Jose Sharks in April of the same year .
With the San Jose Sharks Stevenson was first used for the seasons 2003/04 and 2004/05 in the lower class American Hockey League with the Cleveland Barons . In his first season there he impressed especially in the playoffs, where he recorded seven assists in nine games. After a bad start to the 2004/05 season, the Canadian was sent to the ECHL for two games , but was able to confirm his statistics from the previous year at the end of the AHL season. The following summer Stevenson worked hard and started with 16 points in 17 games in the new season before the Sharks called him on November 23, 2005 for the first time in the NHL squad. He collected a total of 22 points in 47 season appearances and was also on the ice in five playoff games.
For the 2006/07 season Stevenson played again in the AHL with the Worcester Sharks , the new farm team San Joses, and moved after his contract as a free agent to the Calgary Flames , who also use him in the farm team, the Quad City Flames . In the further course of the season, Stevenson could not recommend himself for the Flames' NHL squad, which meant that his one-year contract was not extended. He then signed a contract with the Atlanta Thrashers , who also sent him to their farm team, the Chicago Wolves .
For the 2009/10 season , Grant Stevenson moved to the Kloten Flyers , where he occupied one of the five foreign licenses. However, he could not meet expectations, so he was replaced by Mark Bell shortly after the start of the season . Stevenson was without a club until November 2009 before being signed by the Hamilton Bulldogs . However, he only stayed there a year before he moved to the German Ice Hockey League with the Augsburg Panthers .
