The hamlet covers altitudes between 210 and 230  m above sea level. NHN . The state forest borders Siegburg to the east . The closest localities include Rostingen and Faulenbitze in the northeast, Eudenbach in the north and Wülscheid (town of Bad Honnef ) in the south.

history

Gratzfeld probably appeared in a document in 1212 as a free money in a deed of ownership from the Oberpleis provost . This owned two courtyards in Gratzfeld, from which the place arose. The Ahlefeld courtyard, which presumably dates back to one of the two courtyards, is an extensive half-timbered courtyard , the oldest parts of which date from 1668. Another farm with 9 acres of land was owned by the pastorate in Honnef . From the Schwirzpohl farm immediately adjacent to Gratzfeld, named Swyrzpul in 1306 , the forest area of the Provostei on the Mußer Heide (also Musser Heide ) was supervised.

In 1555, in an inquiry about the court system in the Duchy of Berg , Gratzfeld was mentioned as one of six honors at the time that made up the parish of Oberpleis in the Bergisch Amt Blankenberg . In the 17th century the honors of Gratzfeld and Eudenbach were combined to form the honors of Oberhau. After the dissolution of the Duchy of Berg in 1806, Gratzfeld was part of the cadastral or tax community of Oberhau in the administrative district of the Oberpleis mayor and was incorporated into the newly formed Oberpleis community with Oberhau in 1845/46. According to censuses , Gratzfeld was a collection of several courtyards in the first half of the 19th century ; in 1843 it comprised 14 residential buildings. The place never grew beyond the size achieved at that time.

Until 1969, Gratzfeld remained a part of the municipality of Oberpleis .
