Greg Crozier (born July 6, 1976 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player , who during his active career for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League as well as for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , Providence Bruins , Houston Eros , Albany River Rats, and San Antonio Rampage in the American Hockey League . His father Joe also played in the National Hockey League.
Career
Greg Crozier went on the ice for Lawrence Academy in the United States high school league system from 1992-1995 during his junior years. He then spent four years at the University of Michigan . He began studying there and went to their ice hockey team, the Michigan Wolverines , in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . During this time, Crozier was selected in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft in the third round at position 73 by the Pittsburgh Penguins . In the 1999/2000 season he made his debut for the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins, in the American Hockey League . In his rookie season , the Canadian was the team's fourth-best scorer with 44 points. In the following season he completed his first game for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League . The rest of the season he went back on the ice in Wilkes-Barre and finished the regular season with a record of 60 points. Crozier took part in the 2001 AHL All-Star Classic when he represented the Canadian AHL All-Stars team and scored three points. At the end of the season, the management of the Penguins did not extend his contract.
In August 2001 he signed a contract with the Boston Bruins as a free agent . This put him in the farm team at the Providence Bruins , before Crozier was transferred to the Minnesota Wild in March 2002 in a barter for Darryl Laplante . He finished the 2001/02 season with the Houston Eros and completed seven missions for this in the following season before he was sent to the Albany River Rats . In September 2003 the Canadian signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils . From January 2004 he played as a loan player with the San Antonio Rampage , for which he was in 22 games in use and scored seven points. After this engagement, Crozier ended his playing career after the 2003/04 season .
